WELCOME- NOW LETS GET YOU SET TO GO ON HOME. NO MATTER IF YOU ARE GETTING A PUPPY AT 8 WEEKS OR AN ADULT, ALL THIS INFORMATION WILL HELP YOU ADJUST TO YOUR NEW GOLDENDOODLE.

DEPOSIT

Pay your Deposit and fill out the deposit form completely with your contact information and send it over. If your litter is born then Please write down moms name and the last 4 digits of the micro-chip number where indicated if you have it but not necessary. The rest can be handled later.

Are we waiting on a upcoming delivery or is your puppy already born?

If you are waiting on a confirmed litter that has not been born yet: We will contact you within a few days after delivery. I like to make sure they are off to a healthy beginning before I open those flood gates. Pictures at that time are groups just to satisfy your hankering. We don’t do any more until they open their eyes at approximately two weeks old. If your puppy is already born then it is already micro-chipped and you have the last 4 digits written down on your deposit form. If we haven’t made a decision then we just will write it down then. They are all micro chipped at birth strictly for identification purposes. This number is individual to your puppy to guarantee that we are always talking about the puppy you are expecting. You will receive the information to activate the chip later but for now its for identification.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • From Birth-two weeks: We only will contact and send you photos at the time of birth to let you know how it went, what we have and how everyone is doing. Until they open their eyes, there isn’t a whole lot to see. Sleep, eat, poop

  • From 2-6 weeks. Random photos and usually on the weekend we do individual photos of your puppy and forward it to you. If we have not picked one yet, don’t worry. You get some too. I will be looking for input from you. Thoughts?

  • 6 weeks is about the time that we will want to make final pickup/delivery/shipping arrangements. We work for you here. We will schedule around you so if you want to make arrangements for anytime after the 8 week date that I give you, feel free. Then just let me know. That easy. They will go to the vet at 8 weeks and depending on when that 8 week date is like a Sunday then look to the next business day. Once I have gotten clearance from Dr. Shaw that we are great and I have Florida Health Certificates in hand then its time to leave. You will know your puppy’s expected 8 week mark and tentative go home date by 6 weeks so you have time to plan.

  • Picking your puppy: This one is tough. Some people know right away or knew before hand and some take time. Now people, Regardless of what you think life is a pace and not a race. Its a lot of money and a life time decision for the puppy so we have to get it right the first time if at all possible. So there are factors that have to be taken into consideration.

I don’t do a first come first serve or here is the litter you pick yours and down the line from there. That is selling dogs. Its more important then that. So this is a general idea:

    • Date of deposit received. They are put in order by the date written on the deposit form

    • What everyone is looking for. Color, size, generation, curl, sex etc

    • How many where delivered and how to match the clients I have deposits on first before advertising any others available.

    • We can then narrow down options. We use Face time, photos and videos plus our professional opinions of each dogs personality for placement. We always try to give a few options (if possible).

    • Visits then can get scheduled to meet with us, the puppies and the parents. Know this is the point where I usually hear “I want to let the puppy pick me or I want to see their personality.” This parts always fun. When you visit I will already have my recommendations in mind. Usually I like to see if I am right and wait for responses first. Wanna know how often I am right? A LOT

    • We will then visit with the puppy and/or other recommendations that I feel fit best and when we make a final decision we will get that handy micro-chip number. You will be shown it then and again at the time to go home. You know this is your Goldendoodle!

    • The rest kinda works itself out nicely so don’t worry. Go with the flow and enjoy the process. It is suppose to be fun and I want you to enjoy it. Because we do!

THINGS TO WATCH FOR:

STRESS—Taking a puppy away from its home and siblings can be very stressful and cause its digestive problems (upset stomach, vomiting and even diarrhea). We strive to give our puppies the utmost care and strive to assure you the healthiest puppies possible. Two specific problem parasites are giardia and coccidia. They are tiny and are diarrhea-causing opportunists. They are always present in the puppy’s intestines, and they just waiting to take advantage of any digestive upset.

It is rarely the initial cause of diarrhea, but once something triggers it, (such as stress) the parasites will overgrow to large numbers to keep it going!

As a preventative measurement, we have given your puppy medication before leaving in effort to stop and prevent coccidia from overwhelming your puppy as it is adjusting to its new home. Secondly, we have given your puppy medication to also address any giardia issues.

REMEMBER:  Stress can be brought on by numerous factors. Some of them are:

  • The weaning process

  • Changing of homes

  • Separation from mom and siblings

  • Changing foods

  • Transportation (cars, plane)

  • Handling or even holding the puppy too much.

CAUTION: Make sure the puppy eats and drinks within the first day you take it home. Sometimes it takes a bit to settle in so it is ok if they only eat a little bit or even hold off for a day but they will not starve to death. They will eat with in a day any longer then that please contact us. Please let me know if you have any problems and be sure to address any issues you feel you may have to the Vet.

LET’S TALK VET EXPENSES

My Vet has examined your puppy thoroughly. Upon that complete exam and fecal test along with age appropriate shots and verified clear from worms we will be given a Florida Health Certificate. This YOU will take to your vet within 5 business days from taking possession of the puppy. When you go, you are merely doing a health check to make sure we are all on the same page. At that time, YOUR vet will inform you of your vaccination schedule, Flea and Tick protection, Heart worm protection and when to schedule a spay/neuter. You have until your puppy is 8 months of age to complete this step and send me verification of completion. There is no reason for your vet to do any hip Xrays or any other testing unless there is a reason to suspect a problem.

  • MICRO-CHIP REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

go online or call and register the micro-chip to you. You are welcome to use me as an emergency contact. They will call me anyway

  • FEEDING INSTRUCTIONS

    INSTRUCTION ON FEEDING

if you decide to use another food please mix the new with the old. We don’t want to upset any bellies.

  • GROOMING INSTRUCTIONS

Grooming is such an important topic especially when it comes to a goldendoodle. When our puppies all leave they have probably had 6-8 baths already. He/She has already been brushed and combed and had the force air dryer in their faces. We play with their feet and face and ears constantly and especially while they are getting a bath but be very careful to avoid water in their eyes. Goldendoodles get ear infections fairly commonly. Now of all the golden doodles I have raised I only have one with chronic ear infections. Rose. of course. Once they start it can become a battle so be careful.

Now Goldendoodles are double coated dogs and just because you brush or comb them everyday does not mean you are getting them well or even right. You absolutely need a comb and a slicker brush. The comb pulls the undercoat and the slicker pulls the top. Once your puppy is about 6 months and has all age appropriate vaccinations, you will want to see a professional groomer. You can assume depending on preferences and upkeep that you will be grooming him/her every 6-8 weeks depending on the length of growth you like. We DO NOT remove the declaw. That is NOT breed specific and not necessary to put the dog through. Just know its there and keep it clipped along with the other toe nails.
